Celebrate Veterans Day in Sulphur Springs at the Hopkins County “Salute the Veterans” parade and family fest. This event is a great way to support our veterans and show appreciation for their brave service. Find details for these upcoming events below.
History of Veterans Day
Veterans Day was originally identified as Armistice Day during the early days of its development. This holiday originated on Nov. 11, 1919, which was the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Then, in 1926, congress passed a resolution for the holiday’s annual observance. Year later, in 1938, November 11 was established as the date for this official national holiday.
People often confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. The difference between the two is that Veterans day pays tribute to all U.S. veterans, whether they are living or have passed away. So, if you have veterans in your family or if you happen to see one on in passing, this is the perfect time to pay tribute to them for their honorable service.
